Stamp-A-Stack – Onzole River Project

Did Christmas and New Year’s go screaming by or was it just me? The old adage that the older you get the faster time goes really came true for me this year. It seems as though it was Christmas yesterday and here we are already in the new year. I trust that you all had a nice holiday filled with family and friends, good food (perhaps too much) and relaxation. Matt and I have spent the better portion of it sick as dogs. Hopefully you haven’t.

I am always inspired to start the new year by organizing my craft room and getting rid of items that have languished in there for far too long. I made great headway yesterday and I’m ready to tackle some new craft projects. I also got a new laptop which means I’ll be making a lot more use of my Cameo which is pretty exciting! It’s been sitting in the spare room for far too long. It needs some love!

My first event of the year will be another fundraising Stamp-A-Stack in support of a friend Carlos, who will be traveling to Ecuador to work on the Onzole River Project. If you’re in the Barrie area be sure to get your ticket early. We sold out last time! Mark Saturday January 25th on your calendar. More details will come later this week.

Stampin’ Up!’s new Occasions Catalogue is now out so be sure to check it out and don’t forget that Sale-A-Bration is coming up starting January 27th. If you’re planning on hosting a workshop, be sure to get in touch soon because time is filling up!

Cards & a Sale

I have so many cards to catch you up on. It’s nice to have a few to share since it has been a while since I’ve posted them.

First was a pre Stampin’ Up! one so it has a non-SU sentiment and some retired SU products, sadly some of my favourite products too. It could easily be used for a masculine birthday or just to let someone know you are thinking of them.

Supplies: Basic Black card stock, Old Olive satin ribbon (retired), Whisper White card stock, Baroque Motif stamp set (retired), black Stampin’ Emboss powder

This one was featured at our recent fundraiser for Ferndale Woods. It is an easy holiday card with a lot of impact.

Supplies: Night of Navy card stock, Brushed Silver card stock, Whisper White card stock, Pewter & White Stampin Emboss powder, ticket corner punch (retired) and the sentiment is from another retired set, whose name escapes me at the moment!

On a side note! Mark your calendars! Stampin’ Up! is holding it’s annual Holiday Sale starting on November 20th! It kicks off with a 24 hour door buster sale and then carries on through to December 2nd. This is the must attended event of the year!

Busy? What’s that?

I don’t know about you but these last few weeks have been insane!  I’ve been uber busy with private classes,  getting ready for the upcoming Stamp-a-Stack fundraiser, which thanks to the 14 people who signed up has now sold out and the very quickly approaching craft show at Tip & Sip Cafe on November 23rd. There may also be something in the works with the lovely Lee-Ann from Paper Lane Studio in late November. Stay tuned for details.

I started the above post on October 22nd and got busy and didn’t even finish it. I’m never this busy! But I love it.

Stamp-A-Stack was Saturday. Phew, 14 people 12 cards, a whole whack load of embossing powder and almost $300 for the school later and it’s over. I hope everyone had a great time. As always, Adele and Tony were incredibly gracious hosts, their food was delicious and very well received. If your in Barrie be sure to check them out, or visit them online on Facebook or on Twitter. If you’re interested in hosting a fundraiser with me, get in touch and we can chat.

These are the cards the gals got to make yesterday. I made some of these cards before I joined Stampin’ Up! again so you may notice some retired and some non-SU product on these.

Purex Giveaway! – Airing the Dirty Laundry

This has nothing to do with crafting or DIY and everything to do with household life and making it easier!

I like to cook, I like to paint, I love to dig in the garden and grow my own vegetables. I hate to do the washing (laundry if you’re not British). I OFTEN have stains that are just too stubborn to come out. If I was forced to throw out all my clothes that had some sort of DIY, crafting or cooking stain on them, there is a good chance I’d be naked or wearing PJ’s.

I recently recieved a bottle of Purex Plus Oxi to review. Talk about perfect timing, the washing was starting to mound.  The scent, Fresh Morning Burst, is so clean and well…fresh. Like the outdoors after it rains.

I don’t know about you but my kitchen towels / drying pads are often the worst laundry offenders. Between the mustard, tomato sauce (ketchup) and blueberries, they are quite..erm colourful.

On her recent visit, I roped my mum into helping me make strawberry jam. Let’s just say I come by the ability to stain my clothes honestly. We’re a bit clumsy my Mum and I. Take for example this lovely specimen of a drying pad. Strawberry juice all over. I didn’t hold out much hope because the pad was also stained with some other mystery things.

Well as you can see for yourself, the stains are completely gone and the pads smell amazing! It even got a rust stain out that was on there for ages. I’m really impressed, I thought that was on there forever.

I also tested it out on a stain on my shirt from cooking General Tso’s Soy Slices (recipe coming soon they are delicious). Another winner and considering the recipe contains sesame oil I was pleasantly surprised that there was so ugly grease spot left after I washed it. No pre-soak or  stain remover required.

If only Purex could make getting through the ironing as easy.

Here’s your chance to win a coupon so you can get yourself your own FREE bottle of Purex Plus Oxi and test it out yourself.

Leave a comment below to tell me what your worst laundry offenders are. I will draw 3 lucky winner’s names at 9am EDT on Thursday October 3rd, using Random.org. Open to residents of Canada only. One entry per person. You’ll get an email to be notified of your win, so please use a valid email. It will ONLY be used to notify you if you win.  Winners will have 48 hours to respond. After that I will draw again.

Disclosure:  Purex provided me with a sample of Purex plus Oxi detergent in exchange for a product review.  All opinions are my own.
